Our marble sorter project was by far the most time consuming and most frustrating project we had all year. I have never put more outside hours into any other project in my entire 4 years at the high school. However, despite the fact that it was very hard it was my favorite project. This project was very free and there weren't many constraints besides getting 15 marbles (5 clear plastic, 5 wooden, and 5 steel) into three different cups with no human interaction. We got our idea for our sorter from a YouTube video and modified it to make it our own. The presentation explains how the marble sorter works.
We were given extra time to work on our marble sorter so my partner and I decided to alter ours by making the C channel that the marbles travel through shorter to try and solve the problem of the wooden marbles getting stuck. This did solve this problem, but we still had trouble with the sensor reading wrong values.

All in all, this project was very informative. We learned the importance of using your resources for ideas and that planning is always essential for being successful. I don't think I've done any school work that ever made me problem solve as much as this project did. I was excited that we learned how to code, which was something I had always been interested in doing. After putting many hours into it, I'm happy to say that we have had many perfect runs even though we did miss a single marble on our official run. This is one of my most proud accomplishments as a high school student.
